We at Bijou Organics know that a bath can be detoxing, relaxing, or reviving depending on what concoction you choose and as a result we are big fans of bathing rituals from around the world.  You too can utilize the ancient herbal art of aromatherapy combined with hydrotherapy (water therapy) and thalassotherapy (seawater therapy) to alleviate pain, fatigue, and stress.  Our ancestors understood the powerful effects of aroma.  They often used the smoke of woods, resins, and plants to induce calmness, relaxation, and euphoria.  Hippocrates promoted the use of sea salt baths for their healing properties as it is well known that sea water is mineral rich containing vital elements, vitamins, trace elements, and amino acids that we need.  The magnesium content in sea water is also known to have a calming effect on our nerves which helps us relax and restores our balance.  You can bring these benefits home in the form of Bijou Organics Bath Salt Blends which contain a hearty combination of Himalayan Sea Salt, Epsom salt, and essential oils.

Here is our Bijou Bathing Ritual:

First things first, you need to soften and prepare your skin for the exfoliating body scrub.

Allow yourself approximately 20-30 minutes for your bath.  Fill the tub with 4- 6 inches of warm water. Add 2-4 oz. (1/4 to ½ cup) of your bath salts to the water as it fills.  Climb into the tub and immerse yourself completely into the water. You can use a cup to pour the water over your head.  Sit or lay back, close your eyes, and place your arms limply at your sides.

Progressive Relaxation Technique and Guided Visualization:

Beginning from the top of your head, visualize each and every one of your muscles relaxing.  Imagine a soft purple light entering into your head, filling your head, making each muscle in your face relax, each muscle in your neck relax, then the shoulder muscles, and the muscles in your back.  Feel the relaxing purple light spill over both arms, relaxing your triceps and biceps and continuing down your forearms to your hand, to the tip of your fingers.  Feel the relaxing purple light sweep down from your neck relaxing your chest muscles, your abdomen, your lower back, buttocks, your groin, and down your thighs.  Feel the warmth move down to your feet, until your entire body is thoroughly relaxed. With your mind sharply focused tell yourself the following:

“I will take ten deep breaths, at the end of which I will be in a state of total relaxation, allowing goodness and positivity to enter my life.”

Proceed to slowly take ten deep breaths. Be aware of each breath, focus on the air entering your nostrils, slowly filling your lungs with life giving oxygen. Retain the air in your body for a second, then slowly exhale it through your mouth, allowing negativity and stress to leave your body with it.

When you have reached your optimum state of relaxation, allow your mind to create a visualization of your goals.  Envision yourself as having successfully attained your desired result.  When you can no longer hold to this vision, you have completed your ritual. Perform an act of kindness each day and you will receive the blessings you desire in return.
